The Opportunity

You'll develop and deliver an innovative and flexible range of learning and teaching materials in a relevant subject area or across modules that provide high quality, accessible learning opportunities and an exceptional student experience in line with the University’s strategic objectives, ensuring that employability and ‘real-world’ learning are at the heart of the curriculum. You'll also be expected to engage in research which influences leading edge practice, informs and inspires the research-led curriculum and teaching and contributes to continuing subject expertise and contribution to the REF.

You will also take a leading role on facilitating reviews between Degree Apprentices and employers. Your engagement with employers and their apprentices is foremost to ensuring our existing and future apprenticeship programmes provide an excellent learning experience, meeting employers and apprentice expectations, in line with the IFA and ESFA governance requirements for apprenticeship provision.

About You

To be successful in this role, we’re looking for someone with:

  • A good Honours Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • IEng or CEng status with civil engineering professional institution
  • PhD (or submitted and awaiting examination) or equivalent in a relevant subject area
  • Relevant work experience in the civil engineering sector related to the apprenticeship standard in the UK
  • Knowledge and experience of the current degree and apprenticeship programmes above Level 4
  • Substantial experience in civil engineering (design or construction) subject area, in particular, flood management, and transport infrastructure engineering
  • Significant experience of own discipline to enable the development of new knowledge and understanding within the field
