Officer 1, Species Permitting

Location: Flexible

  • Grade & Salary: G4, £27,003 rising to £30,688 over three years

Role Purpose

This role sits within the Species and Carbon Permitting team dealing with a range of permit applications related to protected species for various purposes including science and conservation and also related to developments and forestry.  We’re looking for a hard working individual to join a busy public facing team.  If you have experience of managing a process and working to deadlines, if you’re a team player, have a good level of administrative and analytical skills and can evaluate complex applications we would welcome your application.   You are expected to have a record of dealing with the public and using a variety of software packages or databases.

Qualifications and Skills

 

  • Qualifications for Permitting Officer 2 under the Installations, Marine, Waste, Water Quality and Water Resources regimes require a degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Qualifications for Permitting Officer 2 under the Felling and Species regimes require Level 4 of the Credit & Qualifications Framework or equivalent.
  • Customer service experience and ability to influence/persuade to achieve desired outcome.
  • An understanding of the Environmental Permitting Regulations and how they relate to the permitting process. (Desirable)
  • Experience of decision making using technical software and modelling programmes. (Desirable)
  • Ability to identify efficiencies and improvements in processes and ways of working. (Desirable)
