Welsh Government are looking for a new Technical Advisor to work in its Flooding and Coastal Risk Management Branch.
Across Wales over 245,000 properties are at risk of flooding from rivers, the sea and surface water with almost 400 properties also at risk from coastal erosion. As the climate changes we can expect those risks to increase, with more frequent and severe floods, rising sea levels and faster rates of erosion of the coast.
To combat this risk, Welsh Government provides millions of pounds in funding for Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) schemes throughout Wales.
We are looking for someone with a degree in Civil Engineering (or a related field) to assist officials by using their technical expertise to appraise business cases for FCERM schemes, ensuring they are technically sound and effectively monitored both during and after completion. It is desirable for the successful candidate to aspire to be a member of a relevant professional institution.
As a Technical Advisor, you will also support the Welsh Government flood programme by providing advice to senior officials and Local Authorities, enabling the delivery of the flood programme and the development of flood and coastal erosion risk management policy in Wales.
Salary: £29,850 - £36,500
