The Witham Fourth District Internal Drainage Board covers an area of 40,928 hectares of the Lincolnshire Fens. The Board maintains 702 kilometres of watercourse and are responsible for the operation and maintenance of nine pumping stations.
The Board is a small statutory public body with general powers under the Land Drainage Act 1991 for the supervision over all matters relating to water level management within its District. Further information on the Board can be found here: www.w4idb.co.uk
This is an exciting opportunity for a versatile, forward thinking, engineering professional to join our team. The Board have an ambitious fifteen-year capital programme with access to £55M in Flood Defence Grant in Aid to refurbish/replace a number of pumping stations and structures, including the Board’s largest 39 cumec pumping station at Fishtoft near Boston. The successful candidate will have direct involvement in these projects supporting the Chief Engineer in their delivery.
Based at the Board’s Offices in Boston, the Engineering Manager will oversee a small engineering team managing the day to day delivery of technical services, while taking an active role in supporting the Operations and Pumping Teams delivering the annual maintenance programme.
The successful candidate will be qualified to a minimum of a Higher National Certificate with industry experience, or a Bachelor/Masters Degree in Civil Engineering. Professional qualification with the Institute of Civil Engineering (ICE) to IEng or CEng is desirable but not essential. More importantly you will have the technical experience and personal skills, knowledge and capability to efficiently fulfil this challenging role.
