Waste Permitting Officer

Salary: £32,876 - £36,229 (Grade 5)

Location: Flexible but occasional travel to Cardiff may be required

Contract type: Permanent

Work pattern: 37 hours

As an organisation we support flexible working. This role allows hybrid working (a mix of home and office working) and a working pattern suitable for you can be discussed on appointment if you are successful.

You will be contracted to the NRW location stated in this advert, of which you will be required to attend for regular meetings, training and for one-to-one meetings with your manager. These will be planned in advance.

Job description

To determine permit applications in accordance with recognised NRW policy, process, guidance and procedures. Support the Permitting Service and respond to internal and external customer queries.

Qualifications, experience and knowledge

Knowledge and experience of the following: 

  1. Knowledge of the relevant legislation and how it relates to the permitting process.
  2. Practical experience of assessing relevant licence/permit applications or using them in a compliance role.
  3. Track record of delivering timely optimal solutions by effective information analysis and risked based decisions.
  4. Experience of coaching and mentoring skills.
  5.  Experience of customer service delivery and the ability to influence and persuade to achieve environmental outcomes.
  6.  Experience of delivering process improvements/efficiencies.
