We have an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer to join our growing Highway Infrastructure Service.
This is an exciting time to join Solihull Council and this role will allow you to play a fundamental part in driving forward the emerging FWMA Schedule 3 response along with developing and delivering our flood risk management agenda.
The joint Highway Drainage and Lead Local Flood Authority team have a proven track record of making a real difference to our residents across the borough, particularly those who have experienced flooding, and we have been successful in securing significant funding to design and implement highway drainage and flood resilience schemes in recent years.
With an extensive local plan consisting of significant new housing and regeneration projects, as well as national schemes such as HS2, this role will see you working in partnership with other Risk Management Authorities and developers to ensure Solihull Council achieves its vision where everyone in the Borough has an equal chance to be healthier, happier, safer, and more prosperous.
We are seeking someone experienced who will be able to maintain the momentum of the team for delivering high value flood risk and drainage programmes and projects. You will be well versed in the planning and delivery for longer term projects, able to solve problems and use sound judgement to resolve a range of complex issues. You will also be able to demonstrate good commercial acumen to seek out and maximise business opportunities.

In return we can offer you a unique opportunity to be involved in helping us to improve and shape the way we work and in the delivery of a wide range of diverse and interesting projects and schemes. Working for Solihull means that we can also offer employees a great working environment, together with a range of flexible working options, an extensive wellbeing offer, as well as attractive staff benefits including staff discounts and access to the Local Government pension scheme.
