Job description
The East Midland Area is looking to recruit a high calibre, enthusiastic professional to join our Groundwater & Contaminated Land team.
As a hydrogeologist/land contamination specialist, you will be providing technical advice on a range of groundwater and land contamination issues across the East Midlands. The interpretation of technical reports and data will be a key element in supporting decision making on a wide range of groundwater and contaminated land topics, as well as an ideal opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their Technical Leadership skills through coaching/mentoring, delivering results through others and managing strategic issues.
Incident response remains a top priority for the Environment Agency. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The team
The Technical (Groundwater & Contaminated Land) Team provides scientific and technical support, in the groundwater, contaminated land and geotechnical engineering fields, to various teams in the Area.. In doing so the team plays a key role in ensuring that local decisions are based on sound technical judgement.
Experience/skills required
Essential:
A relevant geoscience or environmental degree and/or proven practical experience in the fields of hydrogeology or land contamination.
Experience analysing and interpreting information to inform decision making, using a variety of data sources to help draw robust technical recommendations.
As a confident communicator, you will be able to demonstrate your ability to convey information and ideas easily to a range of audiences.
Demonstrate knowledge of groundwater protection and how this relates to a sustainable use of water resources.
The candidate must be proficient in using Geographical Information Systems and have experience of data handling, time and file management and effective organisational skills.
