Our 5,000 employees are key to achieving our ambitious vision and plans and we all work together to provide a great service to our customers.

This is where you come in…

We have an exciting part time opportunity for an Abstraction Permitting Manager and Technical Specialist to join our team usually based in Warrington. You will be responsible for ensuring United Utilities understands the environmental impacts of abstraction and provide technical advice and guidance to the wider business on abstraction licencing and compliance, providing expert advice on Environment Agency (EA) policy, consultations and other EA guidance.  You will represent United Utilities on appropriate national groups, owning the relationship with Environment Agency and Natural England in relation to ground resources and abstraction licensing, including regulatory reporting. What will you focus on?

Ensuring that United Utilities continues to have Environment Agency (EA) licences in place to enable it to undertake its core operational abstraction for water supply and ensure these licences are delivered and maintained in line with regulatory requirements.  You will also keep up to date with regulatory developments in the management of water resources as well as seeking to influence change so that United Utilities continues to have the necessary licences to meet customer demand in the long term. Additionally, you will provide technical expertise to the business on abstraction licencing.

What do you need?

To succeed in this role you will hold a degree or post graduate qualification in a relevant discipline or have significant relevant experience together with a good understanding of water assets specifically focused on abstraction and the regulation of these assets.
