Job Overview

The Water Resource Planning Manager is responsible for the Water Resource Planning team with responsibility to deliver the company's regulatory 50-year Water Resource Management Plan (WRMP) and 5-year Drought Plan. These plans are crucial for the planning of future demand versus water resource base and investment requirements over a long planning horizon. The role is key to contributing to the company meeting its strategic objective of “a constant supply of high-quality drinking water” and “looking after the environment”.

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of an improved capability for water supply-demand planning including the WRMP to satisfy internal and regulatory requirements – insourcing, contract management and training of team.
  • Responsible for the development, coordination and review of the company’s water resources strategy to satisfy Environment Agency (EA), Natural England (NE), Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) and government policy on environmental regulation.
  • Responsible for the business cases to allow investigation, development and implementation of preferred WRMP options.
  • Accountable for management, preparation and presentation of material for internal or external audit and assurance, including resolution of escalated issues.

About You

  • You need to be an autonomous worker with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • You may not be a qualified engineer but will understand some of the terminology with the ability ‘speak the language’.
  • Strong environmental experience with drought management along with how to manage extraction.
  • Understand, formulate and present data and reports; with the ability to translate technical language to a non-technical audience.
  • You will have experience of developing a team and individual capability via performance management, coaching and support

Package

This role will be full time Monday to Friday with a hybrid approach to working between our Falmer office and home.
