Advisor 1 (Warning & Informing)

  • Grade & Salary: 4, £25,828 rising to £29,352 over four years

Role Purpose

The post holder will work as a key member of the Warning & Informing team in providing technical opinion and advice on flood event management across South Wales. 


The post holder will help to deliver the flood warning service alongside reparedness for flood incidents within the Operation Directorate.  They will manage and coordinate our response to river and coastal flooding. 


The post holder shall be able to have good inter-personal skills and be able to develop and maintain good relationships and networks


Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree in relevant scientific subject. (e.g. physical geography, environment science or civil engineering)
  • Graduate member of appropriate professional body. (e.g. CIWEM, ICE or IRM)  
  • Ability to demonstrate a basic understanding of a wide range of flooding related issues e.g. data management, Flood Incident Management process including warning, informing and response by the public and professional partners.
  • Computer literate. 
  • Ability to demonstrate acceptable communication, numeracy and computer literacy skills. 
  • Experience of coaching/mentoring people. 
  • Must have a full UK driving licence.
