To build on this continuing change the Strategic Transport, Sustainability and Infrastructure Service is looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to take on the role of Service Manager - Flood and Water to lead the team in developing and delivering the city’s significant and diverse flood programme and play a pivotal role in shaping and ensuring the city’s future resilience.
You will act as lead advisor on all flood and water management matters, taking a central role in engaging with key stakeholders including the Environment Agency, water companies, neighbouring LLFA’s and the city’s residents;Leading and delivering the Council’s statutory and regulatory roles as Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) and Land Drainage Authority (LDA) for the Sheffield area.
Using your experience of leading and managing multidisciplinary teams you will leading the Flood and Water Team to define, plan, develop and implement the Council’s strategic, operational and lead regulatory roles; promoting excellent performance and risk management practices.
You will have experience of effectively collaborating and negotiating with major local, regional and national partners, investors and developers to reach agreement and securing approval on complex investment and planning decisions.
You will be able to contribute to the development and implementation of policies that support the future development and growth of the city, in relation to the management of water and flood risk within the built environment but also wider river catchments, promoting the use of sustainable and natural solutions with the outcome of strengthening the role of our rivers as important assets, and enhancing the our reputation as the ‘Outdoor City’.
Experience of working in a political environment; knowledge of current best practice; the ability to resolve challenging issues; communicate well and collaborate effectively with colleagues across a range of Council services, and a proven ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships is essential.
