Lead Specialist Advisor, Water & Brexit

Role Purpose

With the diverse nature of NRW’s remit this is an exciting opportunity to work in the Sustainable Water group within the Evidence, Policy and Permitting (EPP) Directorate.  The location is flexible within Wales working as part of the Integrated Water Planning Team.

The role will provide the expert lead on water and manage the preparation of NRW policy, programmes, plans, strategies and guidance developed in relation future policy and delivery mechanisms.  This will translate Welsh & UK Government policy into practical approaches for delivery and an opportunity to help shape UK and Welsh legislation or the future for Water.  The role will also support and lead on some aspects the wider work of the team including River Basin Management Planning, water related areas of work on Sustainable Management of Natural Resources and Water Company Planning.  The post holder will work with colleagues from other teams in EPP and Operations, officials from WG and sector representatives.

Qualifications and Skills

• Knowledge of: Welsh, UK and EU legislation related to water management; Welsh & UK Governments & EU policy drivers in water resources, water quality; and the issues and opportunities in Wales;
• Knowledge and practical understanding of the range of partners and stakeholders involved with water management in Wales;
• Experience of: In-depth understanding of the water management discipline and the complex range of drivers and barriers to delivery;
• Working in a programme and project management environment with Project Management experience and/or qualifications;
• Representing the organisation in high profile and contentious issues in the public arena;
• Share your knowledge and expertise to help solve problems, supporting all Heads of Business in EPP as required.
