CIWEM Venue is home to the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management. We provide our members and non-members with flexible, affordable, environmentally sustainable meeting rooms, in a central London location.

Venue Sales Manager   £30,000 to £35,000 - Central London  Job Purpose   Promote, manage and maintain CIWEM Venue as a major London hub for events, training, functions and meetings for Institution members, the business community, the wider environment sector and the STEM profession. Management of high-quality customer-focused ‘boutique’ events and office venue for members, external clients, visitors and staff. This includes day to day responsibility for room and facility’s hire, venue hire policies and charges, maintenance, security, equipment, furniture and fittings, catering and health and safety. Develop and maintain systems for the effective and efficient management of the Venue to high environmental standards in accordance with the Institution’s ISO14001 certified Environmental Management System and ISO 9001 certified Quality Management System. Lead on developing and promoting CIWEM Venue, achieving maximum exposure and high levels of occupancy and income. Work with the external affairs team, other CIWEM staff and external clients, to ensure that all venue requirements are met and effectively coordinated. Full responsibility of all CIWEM Venue employees which includes recruitment, training and supervising their work and monitoring their hours. Manage all absences and duties of all staff members. Responsible for developing and delivering the Venue business plan and budget and reporting to the CIWEM Services Limited Board.   Hours of work The position is a full time role. Normal working hours are 8.30am to 5.30pm from Monday to Friday (inclusive).  Flexibility in working hours is anticipated to meet the needs of the Venue, some of which may be outside the normal working hours detailed above (occasionally some weekend and evening work may be required).   Duties / Responsibilities   The primary role of the Venue Sales Manager is to deliver CIWEM’s commercial objectives and maximise revenue in addition to balancing the use of the venue for CIWEM charity and governance activities. The role is broken down in to the following: Building & Maintenance Responsible for the non-ICT equipment, catering and security requirements. Production and management of risk assessments. Monitor waste and hazards around the site. Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies, HSE guidance and health and safety legislation. Effective and efficient use of resources. Adopt and promote awareness of CIWEM’s Environmental Policy and other initiatives.   CIWEM Venue Co-ordinate, maintain and plan a calendar and diary of activities, events and meeting room bookings. Strategically promote and implement sales growth, revenue increases and profitability, where possible. Develop and maintain appropriate venue management and administrative systems, including utilising a contact management database and management systems. Manage all external and internal client bookings, dealing with all enquiries and the day-to-day management of all venue bookings. Liaise with the Institution’s external affair’s team (and other staff as necessary) on the marketing, promotion and booking of facility’s and venue hire services. Oversee the sales and marketing function and manage the promotion of the 106-109 Saffron Hill venue. This includes the 106-109 Saffron Hill website and relevant pages on the CIWEM and other websites. Foster and maintain good relationships with members, clients and customers. Maintain awareness of issues and developments in the venue and facility’s management profession and in the related hospitality sector. Continuously look for ways to ensure that CIWEM Venue is the most sustainable venue in London. Liaise with the Director of Operations with regards to routine billing, pricing policies and structure of the annual budgets. Maintaining a track record of all financial transactions and meeting the annual budget targets. Responsible for collection of payments (debt). Provide management reports regarding venue occupancy rates and income to the CIWEM Services Limited Board.  Line Management Recruit, mentor, develop and coach both full time and temporary venue staff. Manage absences and duties of members of staff reporting to them. Cover all venue staff as and when appropriate.    Person specification   Essentials Must have experience as a Sales & Marketing Manager or Event Sales Manager within an event catering company/events venue/hotel Previous customer-focused roles Have excellent written and verbal presentational skills IT, Audio Visual, MS Office & MAC literate A proven ability to think strategically and plan for the medium and long term as well as on a day-to-day basis. Track record in growing a business Confident, creative, enthusiastic problem solver with the ability to spot new trends for implementation. Ability to work under pressure, to meet targets and deadlines and deal with a wide range of complex tasks simultaneously Previous accountability for the venue’s sales and marketing plan and budget Demonstrable skills of tact, advocacy and diplomacy Excellent communicator who can manage external relationships and business expectations.
