Senior and Principal Hydrologists

RSK Land Development & Engineering (LDE), part of the RSK Group, is looking for a Senior and Principal Hydrologists to join our growing team. We welcome applications from colleagues based in Edinburgh, Wigan, Birmingham, Hemel Hempstead or Exeter, but can consider remote working options with occasional visits to these key locations.

Since 2003, RSK LDE has brought together experienced civil and structural engineers responsible for assessing, designing and delivering major development projects across the UK. Our work spans the full development cycle – from site acquisition and planning through to detailed design, statutory approvals and construction support.

LDE is continuing to grow, and we’re now looking for a Principal Hydrologist to join our expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high‑quality hydrological input across major development projects, while helping to shape the future direction of our capability within RSK.

What you’ll do

• Lead the preparation of technical submissions including Flood Risk Assessments, EIAs and drainage reports.
• Manage and deliver projects to programme and budget, acting as a key point of contact.
• Oversee and check modelling, calculations and reports produced by colleagues.
• Engage with LLFAs, the Environment Agency and other stakeholders.
• Support business development opportunities and contribute to maintaining high technical standards.
• Mentor and guide junior hydrologists and engineers.
• Keep up to date with relevant legislation, design codes and good practice.

What you’ll bring

• Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g. CIWEM).
• Strong organisational, communication and report‑writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Experience using FEH, WINFAP, Flood Modeller, HEC‑RAS and related tools.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, WinDES and standard Microsoft applications.
